Rick Bassett

Rick is a 1978 graduate of Brock University, obtained his CPA in 1981 and subsequently was awarded the FCPA designation by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

For over 40 years, Rick has provided financial and tax planning services to individuals, trusts & estates and to owner managed corporations.

Rick’s specialties include assisting in developing creative, effective structures which help to minimize income tax costs for clients acquiring, expanding or rearranging their businesses, assisting families with their tax and financial planning requirements and with the development of appropriate estate and succession planning arrangements. His lengthy experience assists him in communicating the intricacies of tax legislation and financial reporting matters to clients in an understandable fashion.

Rick was one of the founding members of the Niagara Tax Consultation Group which was comprised of local tax practitioners and senior management individuals from Canada Revenue Agency. The group’s meetings were designed to find mutually satisfactory solutions to issues of concern for taxpayers and to develop and deliver annual tax related seminars to practitioners in the Niagara Region.

Rick’s community service involvements included terms as Board Chair/President of several organizations including Niagara College, the St Catharines Chamber of Commerce, the Niagara District Chartered Accountants Association and the Niagara North Community Law Association.

Rick is married to Sheri, has two adult sons, Ryan and Brandon and enjoys golfing and tennis in the summer and curling in the winter.
